After creating your message, you can send it by clicking on the Send button just below the message composition area. There is a Memo button next to the send button that allows you to create the message as a personal memo to yourself. This message is not distributed to other people. It is just copied into your chat log, with a red header so you can easily take notes about the conversation or enter reminders to yourself.
