SPANworks to Unveil New, Next-Plateau Capability For Mobile Computing at DemoMobile Conference

San Diego - A new, next-level capability for notebook computing will be unveiled here on Monday, April 12, by SPANworks, Inc.

SPANworks' "Conversational Computing" products will be demonstrated at the DemoMobile conference sponsored by International Data Group, Inc. (IDG) publisher of Infoworld magazine and other periodicals. The conference will be held at Loews Coronado Bay Resort.

"Conversational computing represents the next plateau above personal computing," said Frank N. Capone, president of SPANworks, based in San Ramon, Calif.

"Our technology provides the capability for true, spontaneous team computing in the mobile market," Capone added.

SPANworks provides a full range of applications facilitating spontaneous team computing in conference rooms, lunchrooms, classrooms and other group forums.

Using patented communications software that is modeled on human conversation, SPANworks makes it possible to share data anytime, anywhere, with anyone. It is especially effective when used with a wireless connection among mobile computers.

"Our multi-user software for group computing is perfectly matched to leverage the new power of mobile computers with embedded wireless communications like Bluetooth," Capone said, referring to the new radio connectivity standards proposed by Intel Corporation.

Pointing out that one of SPANworks' beta test groups is at IBM Corp.'s facility in Raleigh, N.C., Capone noted that IBM executive Ron Sperano thinks highly of the new SPANworks technology.

Sperano, Director of Mobile Market Development for IBM's Thinkpad Group, said recently that "We have been very impressed, during our pilot test, with the potential team benefits of SPANworks' applications on mobile computers."
